Dear Church Family,

Over the coming months we will be making several small changes throughout the building to better organize our spaces, improve accessibility, and make our church feel more welcoming for our current members and visitors alike.

The trustees, along with Leadership Council, has focused on low- to no-cost improvements that have the greatest impact, while making better use of the spaces we already have.

You will find some files below that can help you envision some of the changes described.

1. Fellowship Hall Expansion

We are proposing removing the center post between the two single doors that connect the fellowship hall to the back room. This will create a large open doorway between the spaces.

This change will:

  • Allow the back room to serve as overflow space during large gatherings
  • Open up the fellowship hall and improve flow between rooms
  • Remove the awkward double door that remained from previous room layouts
  • Help improve airflow to the back room, which currently has no HVAC

If we ever wanted to close the space again in the future, we could easily add double doors or an accordion divider.

2. Library Relocation and Creation of a Music Office

We have a wonderful library that has been very lovingly restored and kept in tact through the years, however, no one ever sees it. The library will be moved from its current location to the Fireside Room so it will be easier for people to access and enjoy.

This space will then turn into a music office, which is suitable since it already housed the sound system. The volumes of music we have for Bells, Choir, and Praise Band will be stored in this office moving forward. How convenient since it already has a desk in it!

New Storage Organization

To better organize items used throughout the year:

  • The Missions Room upstairs will become dedicated annual-use storage for items used regularly.
  • The Bell Tower storage area will become long-term storage for items we want to keep but rarely use. Specificially, this storage is for items that are used less than one time per year. As of now, the choir robes currently stored in what is now the music storage room near the sanctuary piano will move to this long-term storage area.

Music Storage Room Converts to an Meeting Space.

The music storage room near the sanctuary will be reorganized and repurposed

  • Sheet music will move to the AV & Music Office (where the library currently is).
  • Music equipment will move to the dedicated storage room.
  • This space will now be where the counters count the offering after the service.  Also, when not being used for counting, it can be a space for having small, private conversations or meetings as needed.

Display Case Update

The glass display case that was in the fellowship hall will move near the office area.

Instead of displaying former confirmation classes, it will highlight current church leadership roles, making it easier for people to know who to contact when they need help or information. The confirmation class pictures will be placed into frames and put on the wall in a place where it is easy to view them.

New Information Screens

Two donated TVs will be installed downstairs.

  • One will display the church calendar and upcoming events
  • One will be mounted above the fireplace in the Fireside Room

Volunteer Opportunity - Here's your chance!

We will be painting the Fireside Room and would love some help on Saturday, March 14.

If you are interested in helping, please let us know by telling Michelle Merchant, or email faitheyotatrustees@gmail.com

Working Together

As we move items and reorganize spaces, we will make sure that anyone affected by these changes is involved in the process so that the new layout works well for everyone.

We will also have a small wish list of items on the church website for anyone who would like to donate items to help with the transition, though all of these changes can be completed without additional donations.

Our hope is that these updates will help create a more welcoming and functional church for our current congregation and for any new families who walk through our doors.

We will be discussing these plans on Sunday, March 8th and we would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you for being part of the process as we continue caring for our church home.

Blessings,

Trustees
